Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
I'm bummed about it... But I think its time to start unloading some of the unnecessaries. Here's one at the top of the list. We're also having a garage sale... I won't be selling it there as I don't think we'd get top dollar for it. It's a sad day for me.

Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
Do you still have another instrument to play? Years ago, I sold my piano and it was the dumbest thing I've ever done. After 10 years with no music in my life, I finally bought another. Problem solved; life whole again. I'm certainly in no position to advise you since I don't know you at all. But surely you can find another way to buy preps.

naa that's the last one.. I used to play keys too. Its sort of a Priority issue to me. I only really played once a week. Never really practiced- I just sort of had a knack for it... always had a knack for music... comes really easy. Loved it since I was a Kid. I quit my band about a month ago after playing w/ these guys for about 15 yrs. I haven't even opened the case since. And not so much as a phone call from my old "band buddies". I'm not bitter about it -It's just sort of the end of an era for me. It does sadden me somewhat but it will pass I think. No room in my life for this stuff any more. |
Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
Trade it for a top quality acoustical guitar and preps. You may use it a lot in hard times.

Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
Looks like any guitar you can pick up at the Guitar Center...:D
How about telling us it's genetics? What's it worth? age? etc. |

I plan to get 2 VERY good acostical guitars and few packs of uno cards and monoply games... people tend to go crazy if they have nothing to occupy their time with. T |

www.ceolceili.com I'm the guy playing the fiddle. Some folks make a career out of making a career... I play music. It doesn't always pay the bills...but then, that's what 'jobs' are for.... The guitar player is a CPA...constant pain in the assets. Hammered Dulcimer player - programmer engineer Drummer - school counselor for 'at risk' chilluns... |
Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps

Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
:bear_w00t: Sell your guitar ?
NEVER !! Unless it's to buy another guitar. :D:D:D Paul McCartney once said if things got REAL BAD he would take his guitar to the nearest busy street corner and sing/play for handouts and pocket change. Not a bad idea as a backup plan if TSHTF which is why I won't sell any of my guitars, keyboards or PA equipment. In the back of my mind I never forgot what he said even to this day. If Paul McCartney is not too proud to sing on street corners...then neither am I. :D:D:D It actually wouldn't be much of a stretch for me since I used to sing and play scores of small nightclubs and lounges as a solo act. I'm not especially keen on playing inside a bus station or on a downtown street corner, but I would bite the bullet and do it before I would let my family starve. I think the toughest gig I ever remember was an hour long program of P&W songs at my church in front of 175 people. Solo all the way..just me,a small PA,and my Ovation acoustic...dude that took guts. About the longest 60 minutes of my life :>) I prefer the band thing anytime, but 5 years on the road playing and singing R&B professionally was about all I wanted. The wild women, the free booze, and other perks almost killed me until I woke up one morning in Greenland at a remote USAF base and couldn't remember where I was or how the band had gotten there. :bear_w00t::bear_w00t::bear_w00t: Never say never...keep the guitar...start another band. The bars and taverns will be filled to capacity when TSHTF. I can't wait... :D:D:D On the road again, just can't wait to get on the road again. :bear_w00t::bear_w00t::bear_w00t: |
Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
lol rat... yer not making this any easier:D
Besides... it was a P&W band that I quit and I wasn't doing it for myself in the firstplace... naa I'm done w/ music. |

Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
I'm replying to my own post but I have to say that is a nice guitar. Nice intruments hold value very well. Don't want to make this to easy on you. Sorry
|
Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
I've traded guitars, given them away, had them stolen and had one destroyed, but I've never ever sold one.
Your guitar is a nice shade of blue. |

Look, I don't know where you're at financially, but I'm not a musician. I've tried, and I have no knack for it--I can't even keep the beat (or rather, the main beat; I keep following some under rythym). I have small instruments set aside, in case I'm holed up with someone with any gift for it all, like harmonicas, and I have an ocarina somewhere around here. But I wouldn't want to live if I couldn't hear music. So if it means you have to pick up a guitar or uke at a yard sale, do it. Just as a $5,000 rifle doesn't make a good shooter, the same goes with any endeavor. The music isn't in the instrument, but in the player. You have to survive body AND soul. |
Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
i i dunno guys... when tshtf, all I can imagine is Work Work Work fight claw scratch - anything to just to be sustained. .. I don' t have much of a picture of playing kum-by-ya at a marsmallow roast.
You fellas seeem to be trying to convince me that I'll miss music when the reality is I don't miss it now. I haven't even been tempted to open that guitar case since I put it up. Unclad - I agree whole heartedly the point music isn't in the instrument, but in the player. In discussion w/ my wife last night she told me she would be disappointed if I did it. - - - Said that she inteded to marry a musician... (lol)- My response was... "So if I sell it, then suddenly I loose all the knowledge of it? Then I'm not a Musician?" bahh.... this is wierd - feels crazy discussing this here:confused_ma: |

TnAndy, who made the Songs of the Civil War CD? Sure, PM me your addy. I'll sell you 2 (we have two cd's now) for a silver round. Yes, we've played for 4 or 5 wakes now. People are dying to hear us. All but for the one gal who told us she wanted us to play for her wake. She died, but never called to tell us. Serious! |
Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
PM on the way....
I think the Civil War album was from the PBS documentary series. Here's a nice U-tube version....bit slow, but nice.... and a cooler version by Bob Dylan: |
Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps

Re: Thinking of selling one of my babies to buy Preps
I'm kinda in a similar situation and am on the brink of selling off my large record collection. I know there's a bunch I can get a fair was for. But the ones that mean a lot to me, that 'make me' if you will, I'll hold on to.
Maybe that's how you feel with your guitar - getting rid of it is like getting rid of a limb. Glad you're able to get rid of other stuff! |
